MK9Resp_PCR Panel
(1) The panel includes: Canine adenovirus (CAV) type 1 & type 2, Canine distemper virus (CDV), Canine parainfluenza virus (CPIV), Canine pneumovirus (CPnV), Canine coronavirus, Influenza A virus (all subtypes), Canine herpesvirus-1 (CHV-1), Bordetella bronchiseptica, Mycoplasma spp. and Streptococcus zooepidemicus.
(2) The research panel includes PCR methods that have not been fully validated: CAV 1 & 2, CPIV, CPnV, Bordetella bronchiseptica and Strep zooepidemicus.
(3) If Mycoplasma genus PCR is positive, sequencing will be followed to determine the species of Mycoplasma. This additional step will extend the normal turnaround time.
**Synthetic swabs (Dacron and rayon - polyester swabs with plastic or metal shafts) are recommended. Avoid bacterial culture swabs (in gel or in charcoal), cotton-tipped or swabs with wooden stick since the residue from these materials can inhibit PCR assays. After sampling, swabs can be placed in viral transport media or in a sterile tube with 1-2 drops of sterile saline to keep swab moist. Please contact the lab for any further questions.
